13 years ago, Ashly Barrett got her start at Eaglestone as an Administrative Assistant, handling everything from accounts payable and receivable to purchasing, safety, human resources and more. As the company continued to grow year after year, Ashly took on every new task that came her way with a dedication that we admire.
Today, Ashly is a Controller at Eaglestone, overseeing financial closing and reconciliations with a sharp eye for detail and a complete understanding of our company and its goals.
EFFICIENCY AT EAGLESTONE
Right now, Ashly is diving deep into helping us work smarter and faster here at Eaglestone.
“I’m working on implementing data collection to better understand how long projects are taking us and where there’s room for improvement,” she said. “I’m also vetting several ERP providers to determine if an ERP switch would help us improve efficiency.”
Having been part of Eaglestone for 13 years, Ashly makes sure every one of her decisions is in the best interest of the company. “I care about Eaglestone’s success. I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make sure we thrive and overcome any obstacles we are facing as a team.”
THE PATH TOWARD GROWTH
Over the years, Ashly has received consistent guidance from her mentors, Carmen Sammauro (current President of Eaglestone), Dave Summers (former co-owner and Ashly’s father) and Bob Klein (acting Chief Financial Officer).
“Carmen taught me a lot about being organized, staying on schedule and trying my best even if I don’t succeed the first time. My dad, Dave, has pushed me to continue my education and strive to be better,” said Ashly.
“Bob has been working with me and training me to implement and perfect our accounting procedures,” she elaborated. “I have learned about everything from accounting to banking to real estate transactions during these last two years, and I’m excited to be given the opportunity to learn and grow at Eaglestone.”
HER BIGGEST TIP? ACT LIKE YOU’RE THE BEST
The best advice Ashly’s ever gotten came from her dad: ‘if you’re going to do something, make sure you’re the best at it.’
“While my dad didn’t necessarily mean that I would always be the best at everything, the deeper message is to give 100% at whatever you do, even if you think the task is not important,” she said. “By always giving 100%, you know you’re trying your hardest.”
And for Ashly, giving her all is about making sure she’s doing everything to advance her skills, even on her off days.
“I like to continue learning when I’m not at work or busy with family, sports or my day-to-day responsibilities. I’m currently putting myself through school to get my bachelor’s degree, and I’m expecting to graduate in December of 2025.”
IT’S ALL ABOUT THE PEOPLE
If there’s one thing that’s more important than Ashly’s love for her work, it’s the people at Eaglestone. “My favorite part of the job is going into the office and seeing colleagues I’ve worked alongside for many years,” she said. “Since we have a low turnover rate, we really get to know our co-workers and care for each other.”
When Ashly’s not in the office, she’s got a full lineup of family to spend time with her spouse, four kids, three sisters and eight nieces and nephews, not to mention her two dogs and six hermit crabs.
“I love traveling and being with my family. We have four kids, three of which are in sports and keep us very busy.”
